A LONG-TIME DREAM FULFILLED
My daughter Dr. Lateefah, president of Open Gates to Fly, expresses, “her desire is to accommodate our Plainfield community by implementing the "no child left behind" act into customized tutoring, using state approved curriculums.” Her services are new to the area but she is not new to the area.
Dr. Lateefah is a graduate from Plainfield High School and has furthered her education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies, a Master’s Degree in Education, from St. Peter’s College, in Jersey City, New Jersey and a Doctorate Degree in Education from University of Phoenix. She graduated with honors and holds a New Jersey State Teacher’s license. While attending college she was a substitute teacher in the Plainfield Schools and her student teaching was also done in the Plainfield schools. She was an employee at Plainfield Community Action Services for several years and did her college internship there. Dr. Lateefah expresses, “her experience in the classrooms and being employed with Plainfield Community Action Services gave her aspirations to bring uniqueness to learning that is exceptional and inimitable.” She also expresses, “her specialty is enlightenment and sophistication, acquired through education exposed through the arts of each student’s gifts and talents. Her dream for many years was to teach students in a classroom setting, however seeing how unique one on one and very small groups worked, she is finally fulfilling her dream with Open Gates to Fly Enrichment School of Tutoring.”
Dr. Lateefah expresses “culture is necessary for a healthy society" and she also believes improvement and expertise through education plus nurturing will advance our children”. One of her main focuses is to build character, self-esteem and motivation to ensure our children will achieve their academic success. “Students must have a special, unique, personal, relaxed, kind, quiet, and bright setting", says Dr. Lateefah. She was very selective in her planning for students, in which required much deliberation of staff and space to accommodate our Plainfield students. Dr. Lateefah says, “the key factors are: the students having first priority, adequate space and atmosphere with lots of natural lighting & serenity, which will help contribute toward the mindset for learning.” Dr. Lateefah has researched various curriculums and will use state approved curriculums plus the eight linguistic styles of learning in her tutoring. She expresses “using faith, higher education, & nurturing, will bring about high achievements and unity in our children, parents, guardians, teachers, Board of Ed., Mayor, etc. of Plainfield.” There is a cost for our tutoring school and it is much lower than the surrounding learning centers where some of our students are enrolled out of town. Our cost is $39.99 per hour. Do not! I repeat, do not let this be a hindrance. Research shows that other tutoring facilities have a much higher cost so, Dr. Lateefah decided that our very own Open Gates to Fly Tutoring School will have a discount competitive cost. Why? Number one Dr. Lateefah had to fulfill her dream and two, our students deserve the best.
